01. About Me

Hey! I'm Kratik Jain, a backend engineer from Indore, India. I graduated from NIT Surat in 2025 and work as a System Analyst at NSE Clearing Limited in Mumbai.

I like the layer under the API: sockets, event loops, protocols, and finding out where the time actually goes. My main language is C++; I'm comfortable with C, Linux and SQL, and have built services in Node.js and Express. Right now I'm learning Java.

My favourite project is Onyx, a Redis-compatible server I wrote from scratch in C++17 on raw POSIX sockets. It handles about a million requests a second, and building it taught me more about TCP than any textbook.

02. Where I've Worked

System Analyst @ NSE Clearing Limited

Currently Here Aug 2025 — Present

Mumbai, India

Own the migration of the team's batch scheduling from Control-M to Apache Airflow 3 across three segments: built the platform on air-gapped RHEL 9 (CeleryExecutor, Redis, MySQL) and mapped Control-M constructs to Airflow: SSH-based tasks, sensor-driven approval gates, parameterised runs and masked credentials.
Convert each segment's workflows with Python tooling on top of an automated Control-M-to-DAG converter, starting with a 60-job workflow across 3 servers; debugged the first end-to-end runs (SELinux/SSH authentication, environment propagation) and wrote the team's setup and migration runbook.
Wrote C throughput analysers that process 20+ GB of daily trade files (binary packets, pipe-delimited logs) to report per-machine peak TPS; cross-validated two stages on ~33.8M trades (exact match) and showed queue smoothing under burst load.

Part of the team migrating an enterprise configure-price-quote system from Oracle CPQ to Logik.io: ported product rules, blueprints and validation logic in JavaScript and Handlebars.js, integrated through REST APIs.
Built and debugged Salesforce components using Apex (classes, triggers, SOQL) and Lightning Web Components.

Onyx — Redis-compatible server, from scratch

A Redis-compatible in-memory key-value server written from scratch in C++17 on raw POSIX sockets, with no external libraries. A single-threaded poll() event loop, an incremental RESP2 parser that handles partial, pipelined and malformed input, and Redis-style lazy + sampled active key expiry.

Benchmarked at ~1M req/s pipelined (p99 < 1.7 ms) and ~68K req/s unpipelined, comparable to Valkey 9.1 on the same machine. Along the way I found and fixed a Nagle/delayed-ACK stall that capped pipelined throughput at 18K req/s.

A 5-stage pipelined RV32IM processor in Verilog, running on a Basys-3 (Artix-7) FPGA. Scoreboard-based issue with operand forwarding, a pipelined multiplier and an iterative divider, plus a Python/Bash/TCL regression flow that assembles tests and runs them through Vivado automatically.
